Jakarta (DUNIA News) - The Capital Investment Agency (BKPM) said foreign investors in East Asia World Economic Forum (WEF) in Jakarta from June 12 to 13, 2011, were very interested in Indonesia.

"Many came to Indonesia to express their interest in making investment in the sectors of tourism, trade and infrastructure," BKPM chief Gita Wiryawan said here Monday.

He said EA WEF was attended by 625 delegates from many countries who managed to objectively raised Indonesia`s branding at local and international level.

Gita said that in the forum many who have made an investment in Indonesia wished to increase their investment and those who have not yet made an investment expressed commitment to make an investment in this country.

"From Asia for instance Nissan, Daihatsu, and Tata Motor wished to build a factory worth hundreds of million US dollars in Indonesia," he said.

GMR of India said it wished to invest 5 billion US dollars in the infrastructure sector of airports, rail roads, trains, and others.

Korean companies like Lotte, Hanua, and SK, are making preparations for an investment of 3-5 billion US dollars in Indonesia.

Several US companies like P & G and GE planned to raise their investment in Indonesia to hundreds of millions of US dollars.

"From Europe like Unilever and Nestle as well as Nestle have expressed interest in building factories worth 150 million US dollars to meet the high demands in Indonesia," he said.

Unilever is now employing 4,000 workers in Indonesia which it planned to double. Coca Cola also wished to invest 0.5 billion US dollars in Indonesia.(*)
